From their earliest beginnings the Trade Guilds were responsible for the conduct
of their trades, by monitoring the quality of the goods produced and by regulating the training of
craftsmen, normally through apprenticeships. In addition the Guilds were concerned with the welfare
of their members. Members received help in sickness and cases of hardship. Our Company seeks to continue
these traditions today.
Our Educational grants range from support for an inner City primary school through
school and university bursaries to post-graduate awards. In keeping with our aim to support our trades,
the majority of our awards are linked to technical education. We especially provide opportunities for
students to undertake vacation employment or to travel to gain appropriate technical experience. We
do not neglect cultural aspects and foster industrial history projects as well as the artistic development
of tin plate and wire. We currently provide travel or vacation Fellowships, Prizes, or other financial support to:
City University Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering
Imperial College : Department of Materials
